Interview with Alex Venders (Devangelic)

Image
1: How did you guys get together as a band? We got together in August 2012 when Mario (guitar) and David (former bass player) came up with the idea of this project, and since we knew each other for a while Paolo (vocals) and me (drums) completed the line up pretty fast! Then after David left the band for personal reasons we got our current bass player Damiano in mid 2013. 2: You released your debut album "Resurrection Denied" in 2014. How has the feedback been? When do you think something new could be out? Well, the responses from the fans as well as the insiders and the press were amazing as we never expected. We had to immediately reprint and re-release a lot of merch and cds as we sold out almost everything after the first leg of the Resurrection Denied Tour last year! We’re now in the writing process of the new album, don’t know it yet but let’s say a possible period to release a new album is mid 2016. In the meantime we have in program to release Resurrectio...

Interview with Ondřej Benc (Epicardiectomy)

Image
1: You replaced Tom in the band. Can you tell us more about why he decided to leave, how you got picked and how the fans have accepted you? Well, Tom has 2 little kids, he just wants to spend his time with his family. There's no bad blood between Tom and the rest of epi. Sometimes he shows up at our band practice to have a good time. He just couldn't make it anymore. Epicardiectomy chose me by chance... One day I was desperately looking for a death metal band and I asked epi on facebook if they knew of any death metal bands in Prague, they said no. Months later I got a message from Serge (guitarist) if I would be able to play with epi in Paderborn, Germany because Tom wasn't able to play and that's how my story began. Fans are getting used to me, I think they like my style and my gutturals so hopefully it will get even better, they seem to have a good time at our gigs . 2: You just came back from a Russian tour, how was that? Russia is fucking Incredible!!!! Wicke...

Interview with Mike Mayo (Waking The Cadaver): Aliens are gay!

Image
Waking The Cadaver. The legends. They're back after three years spreading the disease with their Real-Life Death album which did not disappoint. Their guitarist Mike was nice enough to tell me more about things... and stuff. 1: How did you guys get together as a band? The band formed in 2006, and I joined in 2009. 2: It took you three years to release the new album. How do you feel about it? Yeah, it took quite awhile to release Real-Life Death. I'm extremely proud of it though, I think it's the ultimate Waking the Cadaver album. It blends the previous albums really well if you ask me.  3: What are your future plans/ambitions? Future plans as of now is to just lay low until the summer. We have been busy recording the album and touring with Dying Fetus, Exhumed, and Abiotic, and with our jobs at home, things can get a little hectic. I wish I could tour all the time like some of these other bands, but unfortunately real life (no pun intended) happens...

Interview with Josh Schwartz (Parasitic Ejaculation, Dragging Entrails)

Image
1: How did Parasitic Ejaculation get together as a band? I joined the band a couple months after they formed. Jon, Evan, Donovan, and Emily formed the band in summer 2011 because they were all really into slam and wanted to play it. Emily left for college in the fall, so I joined up with them. 2: How did Dragging Entrails get together as a band? I am also not a founding member of Dragging Entrails. Donovan and I joined the band after Joey and Larry of Devour the Unborn left. Jaymes is the second vocalist for DxE, and we are all very good friends with him. When Joey and Larry left the band, he wanted us to join, knowing our level of musicianship personally and our commitment to playing slam. 3: You just released your first music video for Distribution for Devourment. How do you feel about it? We are incredibly happy with how the video came out, and we have David Bednar (film) and Ben Lee (editing) to thank for that. The reception has been excellent. Everyone seems to be e...

Interview with Tomm Swasthik (Acranius)

Image
1: How did you guys get together as a band? I got in the in the summer of '12. Lars and Bjoern kinda founded the band. Haaki came later and they were still looking for a vocalist. We were close friends before, so they asked me. 2: You released your first full-length in May. How do you feel about it? That was fucking awesome. I'm kinda new in that genre, so I was pretty much overwhelmed by the fans' hype, there were so many kids looking forward to this album. To actually see all the feedback about the album on the web was a good feeling. 3: What are your future plans/ambitions? In Acranius, we're about to write new songs, coming up with a new album for '14. Also, I’m working on an other project, The Oklahoma Kid. It's kinda modern progressive metal and we are dropping an EP in spring next year. 4: Who/what inspires you? There are a lot of persons I look up to. But I mostly try not to follow any lifestyles or what people try to tell me, like my mother did s...

Interview with Andrew LoMastro (Cerebral Incubation)

Image
1: How did you guys get together as a band? Well, the band started back in 2007 with 5 members. Then when the other guitar player wasn’t working out it turned into a four piece band with Ricky (drums), Ben (bass), Mark (guitar), and Vince (vocals). I had met the band at a house show they were playing at with Inherit Diseased, Condemned and Amagortis. Ricky and Mark heard me doing vocals at the show for a few friends. They really liked my style and thought I was good at it. Two years later we were all at a Suffocation show and they were looking for a new vocalist. Vince was no longer with the band. They asked me to try out. Ever since, it has been just the four of us. 2: You released one of the most classic slam albums, "Asphyxiating on Excrement". Looking at it now, how do you feel about it? Well, I did not have any part in that album. Vince was the original vocalist at that time. All I can say is I love how hyped our fans get over it. 3: You've announced a new a...

Interview with Otto Larson (Vomit God)

Image
1: How did you guys get together as a band? It started as a one-man band back in 2008, then in 2009 stared booking a tour with some great Italian bands so decided it was time to make it a full member band. 2: Does the name Vomit God mean something more to you, I mean, is religion your topic or did you choose it only because it sounds cool? In the beginning it was very Religion-based lyrically but as time passed it was clear that there are way too many bands that follow that path and we didn't want to be another "clone" band if you will. 3: You mentioned that the release of the last album would be soon followed with videos. Did you mean music videos or something else? When can we expect that? Yeah we are in the process of getting 2 videos done from the "Exuding" CD. One will be a live-shot video and the other is a complete storyboard that should be completely disgusting. 4: What are your future plans/ambitions? To continue to write and tour as much as we ...

Interview with Joshua Hübel (Architect Of Dissonance)

Image
1: How did you guys get together as a band? Three of us already make music since early 2011, we're good friends since a long time and have a lot of fun together. During the time we had different changes in the band, the 2nd guitar player and 2 ex-vocalists. We play in the current line-up since march 2013, with a new vocalist and only one guitar player again. 2: When is your new EP coming out? Can you tell us something about it? We planned the release date of the new EP in June 2013, but our vocalist didn't bring about the vocals yet, although the instrumentals are done since the end of may. That's kind of sad, isn't it? But right now, we're in the recordings again and hope to release the EP as soon as possible!! Well, before I forget it, we've already released 2 songs of the upcoming EP on YouTube, feel free to check them out, they're named "Purifying Bloodshed" and "Facebreaker" featuring our good friend Janosch from the band SP...

Interview with Jack Simmons (Acrania): Alien zombies?!

Image
Acrania, who gained endless thousands of fans around the globe after the release of the legendary The Beginning Of The End EP, is about to crush even more anuses in the near future. Their guitarist, Jack Simmons, lets us see the inside of the band.  1: How did Acrania come to be?  A: I started Acrania with a couple of mates that I had been just jamming with for quite a while. We wanted to make something more serious as we had all left school. I always pushed the band as much as possible though, with the logo, name, plan, business side of the band, etc. 2: How did you guys get together as a band? A: Me & our first guitarist/first drummer (Will & Doug) used to practice and write some tunes at our local youth club. Never did it seriously but decided that we wanted to do take things into a much more serious direction. 3: Can you tell us something about your upcoming full-length? What does it sound like? Is it gonna be different from the previous releases? W...

Interview with Mats Funderud (Kraanium): "SLAAAAAAM!"

Image
Kraanium. If you're into more brutal bands, you probably know them. Like them or not, this shit is heavy. With their new album coming up soon, their guitarist and founder Mats Funderud found a little time to answer my questions.   1: How did the name "Kraanium" come to be? We just thought about a brutal name and thought about cranium, but then it was already several bands called this. So we just made it a bit more Norwegian-inspired, 'cos in norwegian we write it like Kranium and it means the same as in English. 2: How did you guys get together as a band?  Started around ten years ago when me and my brother wanted to make a new type of band, 'cos as of that time we had mostly played stuff like hardcore, black metal and punk. So we talked to a drummerfriend and he was down, then we put out an add on some norwegian board that we needed another guitarplayer and we found Vidar, then we started playing and just having fun, took us around 4 years before w...
