Ha. Burnt out mostly. I own a skateshop/venue in Maryland. @LCskateshop. Pretty much consumes my life but I’ve been making some cool shit happen.
2. What are you currently listening to that you would recommend?
Gangrenous flesh consumption. The fucking homies. They rip. Scasm from Jersey is π₯. I love some jazz though. 90s hip hop too
3. You officially joined the band and released the first single with you as main vocalist a few months back. How has the response been and how do you feel about it?
For the most part people seemed to love it. Haters are everywhere though. They can all suck it. I’m just hyped to make music.
4. You featured on several tracks on the last album, which also contained bonus tracks with you as the vocalist. Do you know what led to the decision to not choose you as main vocalist on the album straight away? After all, it was a step in a new direction with the vocals on the album and the response has been mixed.
That album was mostly finished before I came along. I’m honored to be a part of something with Don Campan. He’s a fucking legend. Yeah it was different than the other albums but who cares. I think that shows the versatility of Victor and Mauro. I think the mixed reviews were people that are loyal to the original vocalist Hugo. Never met him but dude fucking rips too. I think everyone that has ever felt passionately about a band is upset or doesn’t like when things change. I’m just happy to be here and be a part of a band I was already a fan of.
5. How did you come to be the vocalist in the end?
I originally just booked esophagus at my spot because I wanted to see em. Haha. They had another fill in guy that quit about a week before they got here. I told Victor I’d fill in for em. They ended up crashing with me and my girlfriend for a few days and I played two shows with them. We all got a long really well. Shortly after they got home, Victor hit me up about a feature on zero one. Obviously the answer was yes so a tracked everything and sent it to him. It turned into a few more until I was all over that album. Things just kinda snowballed and I was here for it.
6. What is your vocal technique for the signature predator vocals? How do/did you finetune them?
I inhale for everything. I have a pretty good range and I’m loud as fuck with all of it. The predators were fairly new to me but it came pretty easy with some practice. You just gotta push it all the way back. Almost swallow it if that makes sense hahaha.
7. What are your musical plans for the future?
I wanna be a part of as much slam as possible. Been tracking a bunch of features recently. Intestinectomy, and X-cell were two most recently released bands I featured with. Some more esophagus of course
8. What is your favorite piece of art you have produced that has a special place in your heart?
Zero one was cool because Don Campan is such a personal inspiration and It was the first time working with esophagus. I’m on a track called “the divide” by X-cell. I was feeling it that day and god damn I’m hyped on that shit.
9. Can you tell us a fun fact related to your music that we may not know?
I was in a deathcore band 2009-2011 ish. Debbie does Dallas was the band π. We played some big ass shows but I got tired of being the band dad and having to do all the heavy lifting. So I’ve just been chilling ever since. Started the skate shop and over time it transformed into a sick ass venue and the music scene loves heavy shit as much as I do.
10. What is the craziest shit that ever happened to you related to the band?
Becoming a part of esophagus is definitely pretty wild. They’re 5000 miles away and we made some shit happen. Back in 2009 I got to play a show with Emmure, despised Icon, oceano and a few others. Show was HUGE
11. What are your five desert island picks (music) and biggest inspirations?
Oh man…
Waking the cadaver for sure. Any album, any song, any day
Wu tang π
Been hyped on some lo fi jazz instrumentals lately. π₯
Converge
Krs-one
Inspirations for me personally as a vocalist: Don Campan, Mitch Lucker RIP, Joe Wolfe, Hugo too. Dudes changed the game. So many sick dudes out there
12. What is your favorite slam sample?
Fuck idk where to start. trailer park boys samples are always π₯π
13. Dream tour line-up and destination?
Heinous killings
Esophagus
Waking the cadaver
Any destination. I know there’s a ton of insane slam bands out there. But that would be my choice
14. Alien invasion or zombie apocalypse?
Aliens all day. Take me away from this fucked up planet please π½
15. If there’s anything you’d like to add, feel free to. (Preferrably something extremely random for fun, but also a shout-out, whatever you want)
This is from Victor (drummer) “Bryan still being a memorable member that will actively collaborate in our future releases due to friendship/ professionalism and quality as vocalist.” They’re working on some shit with a guy named Richard that’s a long time friend that lives in Chile. It allows them to play more shows and all practice together since the distance between us is insane. I’ll still be hyped to be on whatever they throw at me.
If you make slam, hit me up, I’m trying to feature on as much as possible.
Don’t be a dick. Support people that are actually trying and putting in work no matter where they are in the process. If you’re not having fun, you’re fucking up. Fuck ICE π
