Interview with Jack Simmons (Acrania): Alien zombies?!

Acrania, who gained endless thousands of fans around the globe after the release of the legendary The Beginning Of The End EP, is about to crush even more anuses in the near future. Their guitarist, Jack Simmons, lets us see the inside of the band.

1: How did Acrania come to be?
A: I started Acrania with a couple of mates that I had been just jamming with for quite a while. We wanted to make something more serious as we had all left school. I always pushed the band as much as possible though, with the logo, name, plan, business side of the band, etc.

2: How did you guys get together as a band?
A: Me & our first guitarist/first drummer (Will & Doug) used to practice and write some tunes at our local youth club. Never did it seriously but decided that we wanted to do take things into a much more serious direction.

3: Can you tell us something about your upcoming full-length? What does it sound like? Is it gonna be different from the previous releases? When is it going to be released?
A: Yeah, it is definitely much more mature and just a natural step into where we wanted to take things. Already listening to the pre-production tracks, I feel we have really homed in on a sound and feel that is original to us. Even though it's different to the EP, you can definitely still tell it's us and we're extremely proud of that! We're aiming for a february 2014 release.

4: What are your future plans or ambitions?
A: Make every tour bigger, turn more people onto the heavy side of music and to just enjoy being a band and playing shows. We stride to make this a full time job, but we dont stress ourselves over it as we mainly care about enjoying it, not the money.

5: Who/what inspires you?
A: Loads of inspirations, a lot in the news makes me want to write some heavy pissed off tracks but as well as society and music. I tend to listen to really bad music (Limp Bizkit, Motionless In White), but that's just because I can't handle listening to slam/death metal all day every day... as amazing as it is!
6: Have you encountered the "this music is shit" attitude?
A: Definitely! We find that the more attention we get, the more hate/negativity we get from people simply because they are jealous. A lot of people we find saying these things normally compliment us in person or message saying they liked it. That's what make us laugh.

7: Why isn't Eddie Pickard part of the band anymore?
A: Eddie joined when he didn't have Black Tongue going so the long distance didn't seem a problem. As Black Tongue (check them out, sickest band!) started to gig/tour more he couldn't find time.

8: What do you think of his band Infant Annihilator?
A: Really good band, I'm sure everyone has heard of them who will read this, but if you haven't heard of their other band Black Tongue, then check them out!

9: If you could choose one band to tour the world with, who would it be?
A: Limp Bizkit. Hands down, Limp Bizkit.

10: What's the craziest shit that ever happened to you? (Related to the band)
A: Probably seeing weird things from fans that make you consider what people are really like in this world... Jokes aside, the craziest thing so far was a show we played recently in London where we got people screaming along and going mental. Nothing beats a show like that!

11: Will you guys ever make a music video?
A: We have two planned (maybe more) for the album.

12: Zombie apocalypse or alien invasion?
A: Alien Zombies, that way we're double fucked.

13: Say anything you want to your fans.
A: Thanks to everyone who has supported us, seriously good stuff and we're stoked for the future. Got some huge things ahead and we can't wait to release this album! Peace!
