1. How have you been?

I've been dealing a lot lately with the LA fires affecting some family and friends. The air quality is slowly improving where I live. But other than that I’m doing alright, back at work after a nice holiday break, so just getting back into the routine of things.

2. What are you currently listening to that you would recommend?

I’ve been listening to the new Esophogus album. Other great bands in the listening rotation include Krytoxik Mortality, Ritual of Despair, Scalpel Castration, Kraanium and Epitomectomy.

3. What are your musical plans for the future?

My musical plans for the future would be to release Desoectomy’s first full-length album hopefully sometime later this year or early next year. I also plan on doing more vocal features and hope to play more shows in cities/states we haven’t been before.

4. What is your favorite piece of art you have produced that has a special place in your heart?

I would say the song Neck Snap. It was the first song we wrote as a band and I just remember having a fun time filming the music video for it.

5. Can you tell us a fun fact related to your music that we may not know?

A lot of the music we’ve written so far are based off 1 or 2 riffs that we bring to the studio. Then we pretty much work with our producer, Manny (hatred6audio), to write out the rest of the track. I also improvise the vocal tracking in the same session. I’ll usually record one take through the song, then I’ll go back and retrack bits and pieces. Also, we use a bear theme in our music just because we think it’s silly and because polar bears are my favorite animal, but we’re from California so we have a grizzly bear on our EP covers.

6. What is the craziest shit that ever happened to you related to the band?

To be honest, I can’t really think of anything too crazy happening. Our first show out of state for Seattle Decimation Fest was fun. Though our flight kept getting delayed so we were worried we’d miss the show. Shout out to the dudes in Invirulent for picking us up at the airport at like 3 in the morning.

7. What are your five desert island picks and biggest inspirations?

Cephalotripsy - Uterovaginal Insertion Of Extirpated Anomalies

.357 Homicide - Immutable Lethality

Cerebral Incubation - Gonorrhea Nodule Mastication

Facial Fracture - Primitive Encephalectomy

Waking the Cadaver - Perverse Recollection of a Necromangler

8. Dream tour line-up and destination?

My dream tour line-up would probably include Cephalotripsy, Epicardiectomy, Cerebral Incubation, PeelingFlesh with Desoectomy opening. Dream destination is tough to answer because there’s so many places I want to visit. If I had to choose one I would say New York City.

9. Alien invasion or zombie apocalypse?

Zombie apocalypse would be more fun. Alien invasion would probably be over in a matter of minutes because I would imagine we’d all just be annihilated. And I should add 28 Days Later was one of my favorite movies growing up.
