Interview with Ludvig, Anton (Guttural Disgorge)

source: GD Bandcamp

1. How have you been?

We’ve been good. We‘ve played our first few shows ever this winter and shit has been amazing. We’ve also partnered up with our booking agency who have been plotting some crazy gigs for us, which we can’t wait to share with the rest of you.

2. What are you currently listening to that you would recommend?

Ludvig: I’ve been listening to a lot of Visions of Disfigurement, Epitomectomy, Analepsy, and Cerebral Incubation. I can definitely recommend Visions of Disfigurement’s latest album from 2024: Vile Mutation. That shit slaps.

Anton: Lately I've been listening to a lot of brutal death metal — especially an Italian band called Fulci. I think their style, sound, and themes are some of the most brutal and coolest out there. I’ve also been listening to a lot of German, Impending Mindfuck. Even though they have less than a hundred listeners on Spotify, I promise you their debut EP slaps.

3. You released your new album a few months back. How has the response been and how do you feel about it?

Our debut album First Degree Murder has gotten some crazy feedback. The release hit 50,000 streams on Spotify after only one week of being released, which is so unbelievable, and we cannot thank our listeners enough.

4. This new album is the last one you made as a duo. What do you expect to be different now that you’re working as a full band?

Writing music as a five-piece band is definitely going to be an interesting process, but we’ll just take it as it comes. We think that it is going to be a little different in the start until we get to know each other a little closer musically, mostly because the other guys don’t listen that much to slam, but it will come for sure :)

5. Do you have any plans for touring abroad?

As mentioned before, our booking agency has been plotting some stuff for us. We can’t say much yet, but we’re going on a 2-month long tour here in Denmark with another Danish band this year, as we’re still trying to make a name for ourselves in the Danish metal scene.

6. What are your musical plans for the future?

We’re gonna take it slow, don’t stress, write a lot of brutal music, and keep slamming :)

7. What is your favorite piece of art you have produced that has a special place in your heart?

Ludvig: My favorite track we’ve written must be Trailer Park Footjob from our latest album. Despite being my favorite track, it is actually the least streamed song on the album.

Anton: Probably Maggot Infection, since it was our first song and around that time, Ludvig and I got to know each other and become friends.

8. What is the craziest shit that ever happened to you related to the band?

We once almost got ripped by a record label trying to scam us for all of our rights and royalties for our music. Luckily, we never signed the contract. We can’t imagine what would’ve happened if we did.

9. What are your five desert island picks (music) and biggest inspirations?

Ludvig: Visions of Disfigurement, Organectomy, and PeelingFlesh.

Anton: My biggest inspiration bands when it comes to writing new music are Guttural Slug, Korpse, Visceral Disgorge, Boltcutter, and Abominable Putridity.

10. What is your favorite slam sample? (Can be from your music, but doesn’t have to be.)

Ludvig: My favorite sample has to be George Bush talking about the suicide bombings in Israel only to finish off with a golf swing while saying “Now watch this drive,” used in PeelingFlesh’s Shoot 2 Kill.

Anton: I gotta go with a classic — “Do I look like someone who cares what God thinks?” from Putrid Pile’s Held Captive for Torture. I think that sample is pure evil brutality, and the transition from the sample is just so brutal as well.

11. Dream tour line-up and destination?

Guttural Disgorge, Fulci, Dying Fetus, Suffocation.

12. Alien invasion or zombie apocalypse?

Both: Zombie apocalypse.
